Working with Automated Campaigns
The Automated Campaigns page of vCita's Marketing menu contains all the tools you need to use the campaigns effectively. This article explains some common actions and flows related to working with Automated Campaigns:
- Managing Campaigns: Summarizes actions and operations related to campaigns.
- Activating Campaigns: Explains how to enable automated campaigns.
- Adding Campaigns (Platinum subscribers): Explains how to create additional campaigns.
Managing Campaigns
By default, the Automated Campaigns page displays four types of pre-configured campaigns, all of which are inactive. The table below the diagram describes different actions and operations that you can perform from this page.
Number | Feature/Action | Description |
1 | Activation toggle | Click this button to activate and inactivate a campaign. Activated campaigns have an image in the foreground (with a green indicator dot) and display cumulative delivery statistics. |

3 | Preview | Allows you to view the campaign message in a webpage. |

Activating Campaigns
By default, all campaigns are inactive. They begin to run automatically only after you manually activate them. You can activate a campaign either from the list on the Automated Campaigns page, or from the settings page of the campaign. The following procedure explains the activation flow from the Automated Campaigns page.
To activate a campaign:
- At the right side of the relevant campaign, click .
The Activate Campaign popup opens.
- Continue by selecting ONE of the following options:
* To view campaign settings, click Edit. (For more details, refer to Editing Automated Campaign Settings.)
* To activate the campaign using default settings, click Confirm. (You can always view and update the settings later.)
Activating Date-related Campaigns
Automated campaigns that are triggered by a date (e.g., birthday campaigns) are based on the relevant Date field in your Client Card settings. When you activate the campaign, you will be prompted to specify which Date field will trigger the campaign.
To activate a date-triggered campaign:
- At the right side of the relevant campaign, click .
The Activate Campaign popup opens.
- Open the list and select the Date field that matches birthday data in your Client Card settings. (All Date type fields are listed.)
The name of the selected field and the number of clients who have data in that field are shown in the Activate Campaign popup.
- Click Confirm.
The campaign is activated.
Adding Campaigns
If your subscription is Platinum or higher, you can benefit even more from Automated Campaigns by creating additional campaigns that target more specific audiences. There are two options for adding campaigns:
- Cloning an existing campaign: This option is useful when you want to use multiple similar campaigns. For example, your regular birthday discount is 20%, but you want to give VIP customers a 30% birthday discount. In a case like this, click in the existing campaign and select Clone.
The Edit campaign page will open so you can make the necessary changes for the new campaign. - Creating a new campaign: The Add Automated Campaign button lets you create a new campaign for which you provide the content.
This option is useful when you want to add a campaign type that is not pre-configured.
Use the following procedure to add a new campaign. Remember that if you want to add a campaign that is similar to an existing one, it is better to clone the existing campaign, instead of using this procedure.
To add a new campaign:
- Scroll to the bottom of the Automated Campaigns page and click Add Automated Campaign.
The New Automated Campaign popup opens. - Click on the relevant campaign type. If you are adding a date-based type, select the appropriate date field from the dropdown list.
- Click Next.
The Edit campaign page opens. Default Automated Campaign settings appear on the right side. The left side displays a template for the actual campaign, including some suggestions for what to include in the message content.
- Continue by entering the message and designing the campaign's look and feel. We recommend including a coupon in the body of your message.
For information about how to update the campaign settings, refer to Editing Automated Campaign Settings. - Check your work using these buttons at the top of the page:
* View online: Displays a simulated preview of the message.
* Send test email/sms: Tests delivery by sending the campaign to yourself. - To save your changes, click Done.
